Pasta is delicious! And it’s better freshly made rather than reheated (most of the time). For lunch, pasta always seems to be a great fallback option for lunch, and now, thanks to the Itaki Pro, I can have fresh pasta made at my desk. So in this post, I’m going to give you my simple pasta recipe to use in your Itaki Pro electric lunch box.
If you missed it, I reviewed the Itaki Pro Electric lunch box. Check it out here if you want to know more about the electric lunch box.
Ingredients For My Simple Pasta Recipe
Keeping these ingredients on hand at home can make life much easier for your lunch prep.
I like egg noodles because they don’t get starchy like you might experience with regular noodles. I love they have a variety of different shapes of egg noodles, so I can switch up my pasta experience. Plus, having smaller noodles makes it easier to fit inside of the bowl.
I got my powdered milk online, but many regular grocery stores might carry powdered milk. I started by using powdered coconut milk, but I now use powdered almond milk. Both are delicious. Powdered milk is a great substitute for when recipes call for milk for the Itaki. You might not want to put liquid hours before you need to use it, and you don’t have to worry about liquids leaking out when you’re carrying your lunch.
The other ingredients seem like easy to have on hand items. Salt and pepper is a given, so thinking about whether you want to add cheese or pesto is completely up to you.
Ingredients
- 1 cup of egg noodles (any size, but I like the smaller ones)
- serving size of powdered milk that would make half a cup of milk(or powdered milk alternative, ie: coconut, almond, etc.)
- salt and pepper (to your taste)
- optional options/ideas:
- parmesan cheese
- pesto
- italian seasoning
PREPARATION
Dump all that in the bigger pot in that order. If you’re preparing it the night before, pack your lunch box with everything you need. If you used pesto or anything that needs to be refrigerated, put it all in the fridge.
When you’re ready to cook your pasta, put at least 3 of the little cups of water in the bowl. If you forgot the water, put enough water almost to the top of the pasta in the bowl. Put two cups in the cooker. Put the lid on.
Press the button and prepare yourself glorious transformation!
When the Itaki Pro light turns off, just stir it all up and enjoy!
Conclusion
This pasta recipe is easy and can be easily tweaked to your preferences. Using powdered milk or milk alternative is a great way to add milk to any of your recipes without having to pack additional liquids.
Feel free to add any proteins and veggies you want. I typically put have my proteins and veggies in the smaller bowl, so they can cook/steam while the pasta is going.
This recipe is so basic that you can easily add any other flavors to this pasta and it can be delicious!
I know this post is short because the recipe is so easy and simple, so I hope you give the pasta a try. Lunch doesn’t have to be complicated in order to be good. Let me know if you try this recipe, and what modifications you made in the comments! I’d love to get new ideas!
