Item #1: Everlasting Comfort Seat Cushion for Office Chair
Sitting in a chair for 8-10 hours a day is brutal, but especially for your boot-toot. I often readjusted because many times throughout the day it would suddenly it feel like I was sitting on a chair made of marble.
Recently standing desk became a LOT more popular, and some people really love standing desks. I’m not against them, but sometimes – I just forget to stand (which sorta defeats the purpose). This cushion is a great item for admins to have readily available for their own comfort throughout the day!
I love this cushion and often use it when I sit on the floor to knit or read as well. I even used it while sitting on my rowing machine. It is a much cheaper alternative to buying a new chair, and it’s portable. I cannot recommend this item enough. If you don’t believe me, check out the reviews for yourself.
Item #2: Anker Ergonomic Optical USB Wired Vertical Mouse 1000/1600 DPI, 5 Buttons CE100
Ahh, the vertical mouse. Yea, I know I was skeptical too, but IF YOU EVER had tendonitis in your hand/wrist then this little device could be your new best friend!
We are all different, and the way we sit/stand and position our bodies is different, but if you find your wrist is hurting you it’s worth a try.
We click and clack all day, and use our wrists a lot and apply pressure resting them on our desks making this a perfect item for admins!
I’ll admit – It’s a weird feeling when first using it, but I promise, give it a 48 hours, and you’ll forget it’s different at all.
NerdTechy.com has a great article on the specifics of mice (vertical, laser, etc.) The site really lays out the details of mice, explains the strain we often put on our wrists using a regular mouse, and the differences of the types.
My experience with vertical mice is great, but I was pretty worried about being able to adjust, so I waited and waited. Then one day, I had to get one out of desperation before I purchased it. I have one for work and home, and I haven’t had tendonitis since.
Item #3: Remedease Foot Cushion by Safco Products
This foot cushion super comfy and helpful to me. Not only is it tall, but it has kept its shape well!
I often move it around my chair as I reposition myself throughout the day. It’s the type of item you don’t think is a big deal until it’s not there.
If you are “vertically challenged” like me, the floor isn’t the most supportive surface while sitting. It helps me keep better posture because I have something to stabilize myself upon.
Also fun to kick it around while working.
Item #4: Mug warmer
I am a HUGE fan of mug warmers! I’ve been through a few over the years, and I still say this is one of the best gadgets to keep on your desk. My mug warmer is older and you can no longer find it as easily, but I’ll link the mug warmers choices I am interested in purchasing to get as soon as my current one dies.
I cannot tell you how many times I’ve just made a cup of coffee and then I either get too busy and forget to drink it, or get interrupted and cannot drink it while it’s still hot. It’s a bummer to remember your coffee or tea only after it’s gotten cold – well, it’s a bummer to me!
That’s why a mug warmer definitely one of the best items for admins! It allows us to work by giving us the freedom to get distracted with little penalty!
Newer mug warmers have options to set your desired temperature for your beverage, have auto shut offs (I cannot tell you how many times I’ve driven back to work JUST to make sure I turned off my mug warmer), and prettier designs.
If you’re interested in upgrading your mug game, check out these:
Item #5: Sabrent 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub with Individual LED Power Switches
Not a fan of running out of USB ports?
ME EITHER!!
I love this USB Hub! The transfer is fast, and the hub itself is small.
Did I 3M sticky the hub to my computer? Yep, sure did!
It’s perfect if you find yourself wishing you had just one more USB port to connect to on a regular basis. I use this one at the office, and I have a 7-port one at home.
I have a strange addiction to storage, even digital storage, so I even plug an external hard drive that is now available to me with the touch of a button with this hub.
It’s the perfect item for admins!
Item #6: Fidus Large Half Gallon/64oz Motivational Water Bottle with Time Marker & Straw
I am NOT a water drinker, but I try so hard to be!! I just don’t wannnnaaaaa!
*wipes tears*
Anyhow, I found a way to trick myself into achieving my water intake goal.
Make it look like an item on a checklist.
Something I can “check off” or “goal to meet”? Sign me up!!!
There are few better feelings for an admin than checking an item off their list or meeting/exceeding a goal. Let me introduce:
Seems basic, right?
It is.
If you have difficulties drinking enough fluids, but you are super motivated to “hit the mark,” this water bottle is perfect.
Could think of a better item for an admin to help motivate an admin to drink water? We get the dopamine fix of “hitting the mark,” all while hydrating. Win-win!
It’s a half a gallon and full of measurable goals to let you know how you’re doing throughout the day.
It’s easy to clean as you can fit your entire forearm into the bottle to clean it and there aren’t many parts.
I, personally, also love that it’s leak proof and has a strap that helps to tote it around while carrying other things.
Go ahead and pick a color that tickles your fancy and join me in hydration hel- um..heaven.
I hope you all enjoyed my list of items and gadgets for admins! I have many more to share too, but wanted to pace myself. 🙂
