Lay in Bed a Bit Longer
What’s the rush? We often feel like we need to jump right out of bed to get our day started, but there’s no point in rushing into our morning activities.
Instead, why not enjoy a few extra minutes in the comfort of your warm and cozy bed? Enjoy the simple pleasure of playing some phone games or reading a book for a bit. Even if you don’t fall back asleep, by taking it easy in the morning, you can give yourself an extra boost of energy before starting your day.
So take a moment to savor that little piece of sanctuary tucked away underneath your sheets!
Have a Spa Day or Activity at Home
Taking some time for a spa day or activity at home is the perfect way to take a break and get in some relaxation.
Whether it’s face masks, waxing your eyebrows, or giving yourself a shoulder massage with your favorite massager, it can help make you look and feel good. Something as simple as taking an hour out of the day to specifically focus on pampering yourself is great for reducing stress, anxiety, and even depression.
And if you have friends nearby who also want to take part, then why not exchange facial masks or mani/pedis together? There’s no better way to spend your day than taking care of yourself inside and out.
Don’t be afraid of considering getting a little dolled up too! Sometimes when we look good, we feel even better! Yassssssss.
Get Outside for Some Fresh Air
Getting outside and taking a good, deep breath of fresh air is one of life’s simplest pleasures. You can experience the fresh natural scents, enjoy the sunshine on your skin, or maybe even take your pooch for a quick walk around the block.
It doesn’t have to be a hike in the mountains – any outdoor activity will do. Why not take yourself or your kids to the park? You don’t need much time outdoors either; as little as 20 minutes can make all the difference in turning a blah day into an invigorating one.
Get outside and reconnect with nature; give yourself some fresh air today!
Get Prepared for the Upcoming Week
It’s nearly the end of the weekend, and you’re already thinking, “What is this coming week going to be like?” It can be overwhelming, but being prepared for whatever comes your way is, to me, a great form of self care.
Take the time to sit down and plan out your week. Break down each day into what needs to be done. Having a plan to make sure you have enough food and household items goes a long way toward giving yourself peace of mind. Just knowing what you need makes those unexpected developments much less stressful.
Plus, meal prepping ahead of time won’t only save time during the week, but it’ll also help make sure you get better sleep because you don’t need to worry about being up late every night cooking and cleaning.
Do Everything Slower
In this world of hustle, it’s easy to get caught up in a rush mentality. But if you take the time to slow down and do things at a more leisurely pace, you can romanticize normal everyday things. For example, try taking your time getting dressed, washing the dishes, or making your breakfast or coffee.
Doing everything slower can put you in a more peaceful and mindful state of being, reminding us that life consists of small moments, too.
There is beauty in taking your time with life’s boring tasks that we often take for granted. If we take the moments to truly appreciate them, we can make much more out of our days.
Self-Care Sundays Conclusion
Sunday can be such a great day to practice self care and recharge for the upcoming week. No matter where you are in life, taking time out of your weekend is so important. Start by giving yourself permission to stay in bed longer, then indulge in an idea I suggested above or something that works better for you! Maybe you prefer to take art classes, treat yourself to a yummy dinner, or get some retail therapy. The possibilities are endless!
And don’t forget to make the most of your day outside too! Whether it’s a day hike into nature or just around the block, it is so important to take breaks from our screens and cars, breathe in that fresh air and soak up those vitamin D rays when possible.
By completing these activities with intention and deliberate slowness, we can really savor the moments of rest – no matter how simple they may be. So this Sunday why not carve out more time for yourself than usual? See what happens! What would you add to your self-care Sundays list? Let me know in the comments!
